About AKSamba

Who?

AKSamba is based in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand and has been running since the end of 2002. We are a community group playing Brazilian percussion with lots of influences as well as samba — drum and bass, hip hop, reggae and more.

We are available for hire… see where we are playing next… enquire about joining the next introductory workshop… join the AKSamba Friends e-mail list…

Earplugs

earplugsPlaying samba is a lot of fun, but the instruments are very loud and if you're not careful, you could damage your hearing. We strongly recommend that you bring earplugs to the class.

The best type to get are the ridged ones (pictured right) which reduce the sharpest frequencies instead of blocking out all the sound.

You can buy a pair of these at at the Drum Shop, Drum City, or from a safety shop like NZ Safety. We have also seen them at Placemakers. We also have them for sale at $5 per pair for workshop participants.
